My Story

What do you get when you start with an electrical engineering degree, add an early career in software development and QA, and then a long run ending as a VP of Marketing, all while spending most weekends writing and performing on stages throughout New England? A corporate storytelling consultant.

What I realized in 2018 was that most of the messaging approaches in B2B marketing where missing a human storytelling element and falling back on features, facts, and functions. Companies are talking about their products and how great they are instead of what the listener wants to hear, which is how those products make their life better. Also, salespeople aren’t trained in how to add their own creativity and personality in a way that adds value and shows their expertise to differentiate them and their product from the next vendor that walks through the door.

I’ve worked at and with companies that span from 23-person startups to Fortune 500 companies to differentiate their messaging and upskill their people to create and tell stories that connect them with their clients. I’ve helped them develop core messaging, sales PowerPoint decks, sales kickoff keynotes, and hundreds of stories that thousands of salespeople have used to intrigue, persuade, and memorably close sales. I’ve coached and facilitated leadership and communications workshops that range from storytelling for business to setting expectations and holding people accountable. You can even find my book “The Salesperson’s Guide to Storytelling” on Amazon.

At CMO in Residence I help you find the stories and build the skills to make leaders lean in your direction when it comes time to make a final decision, because you don’t want to win the hour you’re in a meeting with a prospect, you want to win the 5 minutes after you leave the room.
